ABOUT US
Marmalade Sky Publishing
LLC
Marmalade Sky Publishing
was established in Portland, Maine, in 1991, for the purpose of creating
quality children's books and multi media entertainment to raise money for
hungry children worldwide.
Marmalade Sky Productions
was also established in 1991 (MSP) as an arm of the publishing company,
creating music and videos to accompany the children's books as well as
other projects.
MSP is a creative
team including Jim Symonds, Johayne Yaeger, and John A. Stuart. Together,
with the help of many other talented actors, singers and artists, they
created "The Legend of The Toothfairy", a children's story, now available
in book, video, and audio formats.
A lesson teaching
self esteem, this magical tale encompasses over 13 minutes of pure entertainment,
comprised of an animatic (moving shots of still pictures) video, narration,
character actors, orchestral underscore and sound effects. Many of the
character actors also sing the six songs which complete the collection.
This work has received rave reviews from teachers, librarians, parents,
psychologists and children.
Inspired by the positive
public response to the work, Johayne went on to create an entire series
of Toothfairy adventures for children, including "The Toothfairy &
The Molar Monster", and "The Toothfairy Shares Santa's North Pole Secret",
with more tales on the way.
ABOUT
THE TEAM
President: Jim Symonds
Jim sparked the idea
for "The Legend of The Toothfairy", to his mother (Johayne), when at five
years of age he asked "What does the toothfairy do with my teeth?". The
story was soon written, and some twenty years later, Jim produced the audio
soundtrack and video to complete the story.
A composer and producer,
Jim has scored for radio, television, home video, film treatments, infomercials,
and produced and engineered for numerous bands and performers. His work
has received critical acclaim from the industry.
Jim is also a successful
software developer, supplying some of the largest online companies with
his affiliate program management software.
V.P., Creative Services,
Author: Johayne Yaeger
Johayne is the creative
visionary behind the stories produced by MSP.
Johayne studied the
craft of screen writing at the BBC in London. She is also an award winning
screenwriter (Santa Barbara Writer's Conference), and a graduate of
the Vassar College Summer Institute of Publishing & Writing.
In l979, Johayne
saw a need to discuss child abuse on television. It was through her
efforts and those of Jim Duffy, former President of ABC Network, that the
first docu-drama on child abuse was aired.
Johayne has been
actively involved in advocating for children's rights and fundraising for
children for more than thirty years.
Production Consultant/Producer/Engineer/Narrator:
John A. Stuart is
a music industry professional with over 30 years of experience.
A seasoned session
musician, singer, composer, producer/engineer, and consultant, John complements
MSP's creative services with his unique talents on various levels.
John's first involvement
with MSP came with "The Legend of The Toothfairy".
Johayne's relationship
with John goes all the way back to l974 when we began to work in the studio
on the Toothfairy story – in song and narration. John had written
and worked on some early song demos for Johayne with Karla Thibodeau and
Michael McGinnis ("Grandpa Moon","Never Give Up" and "Does It Hurt
To Loose A Tooth?"). Life got in the way and the project was postponed.
But John was there to come onboard for the final production of the “Legend
of the Toothfairy” album in 1992 through 1994 as associate producer and
he has been with helping us with many other stories, giving his talent
as singer and narrator as well.
John's diverse vocal
talents bring to life the narrated stories of "The Toothfairy and
the Molar Monster", and "Santa's North Pole Secret".
His credits include
engineering a grammy-nominated album for Noel Paul Stookey, and other works
with Schooner Fare, Jim Newton and Friends - awarded a "Parent's Choice
Gold Award", Captain Kangaroo, Rick Charette, and countless radio, tv ads
and industrial films.
John maintains his
own studio "Houndog Recording", and is available for a wide variety of
audio projects at StuartAudio.com
A terrific partner
to have in all our projects, John is a solid family man whose wit and intelligence
is a joy to experience. If you are working in a studio – you have
to work with John. He’s the best!
Heidi Whitten, VP of Sales
Heidi joined the
Marmalade Sky team in 2007 and brings a wealth of sales and marketing experience.
Previously she was involved in the sales and publishing aspects of Maine
Invites You, the state of Maine’s Travel Planner. Through this experience,
she has built relationships with companies large and small, selling print
and multi-media advertising, on behalf of the state of Maine. Prior to
her work in tourism, Heidi was a social worker, working with at risk children
and families. She is very passionate about helping children around the
world, develop strong self-esteem and self-confidence.
Carole
Symonds, CFO
Carole is a partner
of PricewaterhouseCoopers Boston Office. She carries the responsibility
of assuring that the net, after tax profits from our efforts are donated
to charities involved in feeding hungry children.
Marmalade Sky Publishing
is pleased to showcase the talents of many wonderful artists who have helped
create the magic of "The Legend of the Toothfairy" works.
Joel Ferris, Portland,
Me
Joel created all
the magical characters for "The Legend of the Toothfairy" video and book.
Characters so rich and full they offer a special magic of wonderment to
children. It was Joel's hand that brought eight year old Tilli-Ani from
the Kingdom of Sironius into the hearts of us all. We thank Joel for his
marvelous gift.
Patrick Carlson,
Valdosta, GA
Patrick created the
delightful Molar Monster that is capturing the imaginations of children
around the world. Patrick's sense of humor pervades each and every picture
- and absolutely no one will ever forget this silly, ridiculous monster
who irritates the toothfairy beyond her ken. Patrick is working on yet
another monster sequel which is certain to delight fans everywhere. Patrick
is the father of twins whose work is widely recognized around the world.

Enroc Illustrations
Based in Argentina,
Santiago Cornejo, art director makes positively sure that we are given
marvelous books and the most charming of illustrations for our "I Can Do
It Too, All By Myself" children's series. No child can deny
the delightful antics of the characters as they dance across the pages
of our books. We thank Santiago for his wonderful generous talent.
Santiago is an award winning cartoonist - whose works can be found at enroc.com.
Gesture Graphics
- India
We turned to Gesture
Graphics in India, for our flash work on the children's series, and found
a wonder in Kanika. Kanika is fast, always willing to please, and
her work is a delight for all to view. Many blessings came our way
in meeting Kanika. We will be working with her for years to come.
Portfolios of Kanika's work can be found at gesturegraphics.com
Millenium Designs
- New York
We turned to Bob
D'Amico to do our layout work for the "I Can Do It Too, All By Myself"
children's series. Bob and his wife Carol have been a joy to work
with. Always ready with a suggestion, Bob not only did a superb job
on the layouts of The Molar Monster & Santa's North Pole Secret books,
he got us ready for Book Expo and gave us insights we had never imagined.
Through his efforts, many magical things have happened. Just to know
Bob is there at the end of the day is one of the nicest rewards on this
project. You can find Bob's portfolio at millworldwide.com
